Founder and owner Emil Panichi
Daughters Elisa and Evelyn carry on the family business tradition
Emil Panichi acquired Welsh Sanitation Service in 1994 with a vision to expand the Hudson Valley service area he'd built via his own venture -- Royal Carting Service Company -- starting as a young man with a single truck in 1955.
Since that humble beginning, Emil has committed his time and energy and to see Royal Carting, and now Welsh Sanitation, grow and thrive across the Hudson Valley. Through the years, the business has expanded from residental garbage collection to drop off service and commercial waste removal, and remains a pioneer in recycling, with more than half of our vehicles now zero emission.
Today, Welsh Sanitation employs a "family" of Hudson Valley residents and operates a fleet of specialized vehicles along with its own single stream recycling dropoff center and two NYS DEC permitted transfer stations.
Having entered the business as teenagers working on weekends and school breaks, daughters Elisa and Evelyn are proud to carry on the Panichi family business tradition and community service mission that are the heart of Welsh Sanitation.
The Panichi family's passion for business is matched by their personal spirit of giving. As such, Welsh Sanitation (through sister company Royal Carting) has made it a mission to give back to the community. Initiatives that help children overcome challenges and achieve their best potential are a particular area of focus.
Royal/Welsh support local hospitals and colleges, as well as hundreds of local non-profit organizations, including: American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, DARE, Abilities First, Downs Syndrome of the Hudson Valley, Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie and DC ARC.
Most recently, Emil and family helped build the Panichi Pool for Maplebrook School of Amenia, NY -- a specialized boarding school that serves adolescents and young adults who learn differently.
